About Diane
I’m Diane Easson. I’ve worked with children and families for more than 25 years across direct work with children, assessment and consultation, parent support, professional supervision and education.
My background spans behaviour and learning, psychology, and primary education. I’m also a practising primary teacher, which gives me a current understanding of children’s learning and development and of the realities of supporting different needs within schools.
I have particular experience working with younger children developing the foundations for communication, engagement, flexibility and learning, while supporting children with a wide range of developmental needs.
How I work
I don’t start with a fixed programme. I look carefully at the individual child, what they can already do, what is getting in the way and what might make the biggest practical difference.
I try not to make assumptions about what a child is capable of learning. That has included supporting children to develop functional communication using digital systems, even where those tools had initially been thought too complex for them.
Any recommendations need to be realistic for the child, their family and, where relevant, the nursery or school around them.
Experience and Qualifications
I am a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and hold an MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis, an MA in Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, and a PGDE in Primary Education.
I am also a registered primary teacher and have worked as a consultant with primary schools, supporting values-based approaches to behaviour, inclusive practice and efforts to raise attainment.
